Fashion Film Treatment

Fashion Film Visual Research

Selection of shots from films by Salomon. I like the different angle and range of shots. Plus the use of shadow and light on the subject.

Fashion Film Audio Research

 Journey by rew1nd

Simple piano with a dark tone and feel.

Upbeat but dark dance track

Upbeat Drum & Bass Track

Electronic dance track.

Very dark with slow build up to evoke tension.

After researching various audio track we decided we wanted something dark and ambient with a contemporary sound.

Fashion Film Parallel Screen Shots

Here are a few screen shots from are final film. I've picked some key and favourite images. The use of natural light contrasting with natural shadow gives the film balance. Adding after effects to these gave us a range of interesting visuals.

Fashion Film Parallel Video Research Screen Shots

Nick Knight

Knights use of lighting and symmetry is really effective in this film. I particularly like the use of shapes to create objects and movement.

Ruth Hogben

Ruth use of symmetry again i find really interesting and having the black background brings the subject into focus with a strong silhouette. The shapes are almost hypnotising with the movement which keeps you watching with anticipation.

Showstudio By Louise Goldin

I like how the film is concentrated on one part of the body using different angles and types of shots.

Use of overlay to create shadow and silhouette.

Fashion Film Parallel Video Research

Ólafur Arnalds - Ljósið (Official Music Video) from Erased Tapes on Vimeo.

How the music matches the movement of the animation is really effective.

Scrutinise #6 (2010) from Adam Jones on Vimeo.

Use of overlay to produce numerous images at one time gives more depth a texture to the film.

Last Poet Fractured from elle muliarchyk on Vimeo.

Again use of overlay and negative colour to produce dark and raw footage.

Fashion Film Parallel: First Location Research

Here are some examples of places we found for possible locations for our fashion film. We looked for places that had good contrast of lighting and shadows so as to utilise this in the recording. We also wanted places that had a contrast to each other in terms of surroundings and not really connected in anyway as to define the destinations of are two characters.

Fashion Film Parallel Narrative

The film consists of two characters one male and one female. These two people are connected unknowingly by a mutual friend who has recently passed away in a tragic accident by the canal. Through this film we witness the journey of the two people who are paying respects in their own way. During the film the two cross paths not knowing the connection and grief they both share.

Travelling along our own lives we pass many people each and everyday but how many of those do we even acknowledge? Or connect with? You might be surprised what you find out.
